Holi 2028 in the Netherlands
Also called Rangwali Holi, Dhulandi, होली.
Holika Dahan is the evening before, on 10 March.
Holi is two days — Holika Dahan on the bonfire night, and Rangwali Holi with colour the following morning. The Dutch problem is temperature and permission. Early March is around five degrees, and playing with colour in a rented garden or a public park is a conversation with a landlord or a municipality, not a given.
What works here is an indoor or hired outdoor space with water access, organic colours that wash out of Dutch plumbing, and food that arrives hot. Several cities run public Holi events; the family version is generally smaller and warmer.
What we arrange
- A venue that permits colour, with somewhere to wash and change
- Organic gulal, which most public venues here require
- Thandai and gujiya, made rather than bought in
- Hot food, because March here does not forgive a cold buffet
- A photographer who has shot colour before and brings the right cover
Sourcing takes about 30 days for this one, so tell us by .
What this usually becomes
Also this year
- Navratri 202611 October 2026 to 19 October 2026 — Nine nights, then Dussehra. The one festival where the Netherlands has real crowds to join.
- Dussehra 2026Tuesday, 20 October 2026 — The tenth day. Ravana burns, and it is the day people start new things.
- Karva Chauth 2026Thursday, 29 October 2026 — A day-long fast that ends when the moon is sighted — which in November here is not guaranteed.
- Places we can arrange thisWhere a puja, a dinner or a photoshoot actually works, with the practical detail that decides it.
