Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 in the Netherlands

Also called Ganeshotsav, Vinayaka Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi starts with an idol installed at home and ends, ten days later, with visarjan. Away from India the second half is the hard part: there is no procession to join and no obvious water to immerse in, and Dutch waterways are managed — you cannot put a plaster idol into a canal. Most families here use a clay idol and a tub, and keep the rest of it intact: the modaks, the aarti twice a day, the house full on the first evening.

The first day is the one that needs planning. Everything else follows from having the idol, the flowers and the food in the right place at the right hour.

What we arrange

  • A clay idol sized for a flat, and a tub for visarjan at home
  • Modaks made to order — steamed, not the fried supermarket kind
  • A pandit for the pran pratishtha on the first morning
  • Red hibiscus and durva grass, which need ordering ahead
  • Sattvik catering for the first evening, pure veg or Jain

The 21-day sourcing window for this one has already started. Some of it can still be done — message us and we will tell you what is realistic rather than take the booking and hope.
